The angstrom or angstrom (symbol A) is an internationall recognized unit of length equal to 0.1 nanometre or 1 x 10-10 meters. It is named after Anders Jones Angstrom. Although accepted for use, it is not formally defined within the International System of Units (SI). The angstrom is often used in the natural sciences for expressing the sizes of atoms, lengths of chemical bonds and the wav elengths of electromagnetic radiation, and in technology for the dimension of parts of intergrated circuits. It is also commonly applied in structrual biology. .
